This photo that I have painted was taken looking down in to the Lamb carcass. You can see the kidneys at the top and the ribcage around. I really like this piece- I think the blood drip adds a certain visceral feeling to the piece. Oil on canvas, 3ft x 3ft, April 2012.

This piece is of a Lamb carcass, taken as a whole. I have worked in oils to get a variety of colours in to the piece. Oil on canvas, 4ft x 3ft frame, April 2012.

Here is another piece I have done, this time of a hung Pig carcass. I have added the quote ‘beauty radiates from within’ to this piece as I want to show that the body/meat is beautiful. Oil on canvas, 4ft x 3ft frame, April 2012.

This is a piece from my current project on ‘dissection’. I visited a meat market and managed to get in to a meat store room and take some really good photos. So this is the inside of a lambs carcass- the ribcage. Oil on canvas, 4ft x 3ft frame, April 2012.

This was my favourite piece from my dissection project so far. I made the heart using panels of red velvet so when I put it together it was more 3D. Around the top I tried to make a fatty area, and then made blood vessels that weaved around this.

This is the human lungs that I made. I embellished them with gold sequins to show the alveoli in the lungs, I wanted them to be as appealing as possible to the viewer.

Carrying on with the series of material human organs, these are a string of Kidneys I made. I originally was going to make 2, but I got a little carried away and ended up making 80 of them! They show a slightly more jokey side to dissection, as they look a bit like a string of sausages.

To show the more appealing side of human organs, I wanted to show the viewer that organs can be beautiful if shown in the right way. So I have made a series of sewn material organs. This is a liver that I made and then embellished with red beads.

On a slightly more gruesome note, I made this little cabinet and placed some jars filled with various rubber organs inside. I wanted to create a contrast in my work and on the idea of dissection. As most people feel anything to do with the internal body disgusting, and I wanted to show the nasty and nice side.

These were a bit of fun in my project, I knitted a dissected Rat and Frog and displayed them in a frame, pinned on to a cork base. I wanted to show that there is a nicer/more appealing side to the dissected body, if the right materials are used. I like the naivety of them.
